SSE Weekly Colloquium | 理工学院系列研讨会邀请

The School of Science and Engineering is committed to creating a platform for students and faculty members to exchange ideas and explore cutting-edge research developments in various fields of science and engineering. Starting from 2021 fall, SSE will organize the "Weekly Colloquium" series of seminars every Friday. Each week, SSE will invite our faculty members and distinguished guest speakers from outside the University to conduct academic seminars.

All students and faculty members are invited to join the weekly colloquium!

About the Colloquium

Abstract

Organic semiconductors are solids whose building blocks are π-conjugated molecules or polymers. They can interplay with photons and electrons, thus playing a very important role in many organic optoelectronic devices, such as organic field-effect transistors (OFETs), organic photovoltaics (OPVs), and organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). Due to their chemical versatility, organic semiconductors can be subtly modified with tunable (opto) electronic properties. In this talk, the preparations, characterizations, and corresponding optoelectronic applications of several classic organic semiconductors will be introduced.

The Speaker

Zijie QIU is currently a tenure-track assistant professor and Presidential Young Fellow of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen, and concurrently a guest scientist at the Max Planck Institute of Polymer Research (MPIP) in Germany. Prof. QIU obtained his bachelor's degree in chemistry from Fudan University in 2014 and his Ph.D. degree in Chemistry from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2018. During 2018-2020, he was working as a postdoctoral researcher at MPIP and was awarded Humboldt Research Fellowship. Since April 2020, he was promoted as the Scientific Project Leader in the Synthetic Chemistry Department in MPIP. Up till now, Prof. QIU has published more than 60 academic papers in J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed., Adv. Mater., Prog. Polym. Sci. and other well-known academic journals with a total citation of more than 2,700.
